The wife of the Idere-born technocrat and the governorship aspirant in 2019 Oyo State gubernatorial election, Dr. Ayandele has promised free UTME forms for interested indigenes of Idere community who wish to apply for the examination this year.

In his statement, Prince Oloore said “Dr. (Mrs.) Yinka Ayandele just informed me about her willingness to purchase free UTME forms for all interested indigenes of Idere including free coaching class to enable the students come out with flying colours in the forthcoming examination”

“This offer is open to everyone in the community except beneficiaries of other foundations or bodies for the same examination”.

The United Kingdom (UK) Chapter of the Oyo State All Progressive Congress (APC) held her New Year Party dinner for members with invitees from within Oyo State other South West States where United Kingdom National Executives were present to grace the event.

The event which took place on Saturday, 25th January 2020 at Ace Lounge, 199-204 Lewisham Say, London SE4 1UY had in attendance the Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly on Diaspora Matters, Hon. Seyi Adisa as the special guest.

Hon. Seyi Adisa in his speech adviced Apc members in diaspora to frequently visit Nigeria in their various constituency to initiate community development project through their wealth and the pool of knowledge they have acquired in abroad.

He further sighted example of himself, having served as private secretary to the former governor Abiola Ajimobi for good 8 years, he had learnt a lot from him. He now deemed it expedient and necessity to domesticate all what he has learnt in his constituency by giving initiating some lofty projects in different areas of life e.g. education, electricity and other humanitarian assistance to people even before he contested.

Hon. Adisa also said he got to know that the simple and straight forward language everyone understand in Nigeria is growth and development of your community. This gave him edge above other aspirants during the context both in primary and general election of 2019. He thereby admonished diaspora to emulate such strategies.

The Chairman South West APC UK, Muyiwa Adesuwa while reacting to what Hon Adisa’s speech said that the diaspora have capable hands who can represent their people in elective positions rather than handpicking one or two people to be Special Advisers.

“We have loyal members who are committed and consistent, pushing for the course of this part and non of them have decamped to any political party.

“For us in South West, we are coming home to engage our party chairmen and whosoever is the SA diaspora because it is time to interface and interact with our leaders back home.

“We want to let you know that we have capable hands among us who can represent the people because times without number, you just invite one or two people to come and be Special Advisers (SA). We need to be given also an elective positions and also be given opportunity to get involved in the party politics”

Also addressing the gathering at the event, the National Chairman, APC UK Dr Edeawor said that APC UK is working hard to ensure they are a congress this year and participation will be strictly for registered members who are financially committed.

“As a party, we have made tremendous sacrifices and we can’t allow our party to die for any reason.

“APC UK will have her congress this year. APC as a political party have a constitution and for you to participate in the process, you must be a full member and to be a full member of APC, you must be financially committed.

The Chairman, UK APC Oyo State Mr Kolawole Saidu appreciate the Law Maker along side other invited guests for creating time to attend the event saying their presence is perfectly timed.

“I will also like to start by addressing first Hon. Seyi Adisa by saying that you could not have come at a better time. Oyo State has a sizable number of indigenes in the UK. The financial support they provide for people at home gives them enormous influence which should inform our strategic thinking as a party and politicians.

“Regrettably, past Oyo State Assembly has not made any conscious effort to see how they could engage with Oyo State people in the diaspora to take advantage harvest these vast resources in terms of human, financial resources and voting power.

“No past government in Oyo State has made conscious effort to create an avenue to register professionals from Oyo State resident in the UK who could contribute meaningfully to policy formation, education, health and social engineering of the state and Nigeria in general.

“Later in the year, we will organise or facilitate with your good office a worship of all stake holders which will include religious, town and city group leaders in the UK who are from Oyo State.

“This is with a view to creating an avenue for cross fertilisation of ideas and to discuss what is germane to them as far as development and vision for Oyo State are concerned.” Kolawole said.

Members of the State executives that were present are the Public Relations Officer, Hon. Abiodun Owolabi, the Secretary Hon. Supo Philips among others.

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, the State capital, on Tuesday restrained the 68 sacked council chairmen and chairmen of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) from the forceful and illegal takeover of the council offices across the state.

Oyomind.com.ng recalled that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami has instructed the Inspector General of Police to supervise the return of the sacked democratically elected local government chairmen to their various councils.

The Court, presided over by Honourable Justice Moshud A.A. Abass, granted the four reliefs sought by the lead counsel to the Oyo State Government, Dr. Akin Onigbinde, SAN, including an order of interim injunction restraining the sacked chairmen from forcefully taking over the Local Government Councils or taking steps capable of causing breach of peace in the State.

The orders of interim injunction, which were granted by the Oyo State High Court followed an ex-parte motion filed by the State Government in Suit No: I/78/2020.

Also restrained were the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar; Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Mr. Shina Olukolu, and the Oyo State APC chairman, Mr. Akin Oke.

The parties and their agents were restrained from taking any step that could tamper with the pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

According to the Court, the sacked chairmen, as well as the four other defendants, their officers, agents, privies or otherwise, were restrained from taking steps that would cause a breach of peace by embarking on self-help to give effect to a letter dated 14th January 2020 with reference number HAGF/OYO/2020/VOL.I/1 issued by the Attorney General of the Federation to the sacked chairmen and the Inspector General of Police pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji (Aje Oguguluso 1) would lead stakeholders in the State revenue sector to declare open a summit to dialogue on tax in the State on Tuesday.

This is as the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Internal Revenue Service (OYSIRS), Aremo John Adeleke has described sufficiency in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as a sure way to move the State from poverty to prosperity.

Adeleke made this known during an interview with journalists in his office toward a programme organized by the body and the State Ministry of Finance, tagged ‘Tax Stakeholders POVERTY TO PROSPERITY Summit’ at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, UCH, Ibadan. 

The event was slated to start by 10am as the State governor was expected to declare it open while the Olubadan of Ibadan has been billed to give a goodwill message.

According to the Executive Chairman, OYSIRS, the lead paper at the summit will be presented by Prof. Abiola Sanni, a Proffesor of Taxation and Fiscal Matters from the University of Lagos, Akoka.
Aremo Adeleke said since the inception of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, the State has been enjoying the benefits of good governance in different ways and for these benefits to be sustained, the citizen needed to play their parts through regular payment of their taxes, levies and rates because no government that could do much without adequate internal resources.

“The summit essentially is a sensitization of all stakeholders and for the Governor to be able to enumerate all his effort at restructuring the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) architecture. 
“He will also solicit the co-operation of the taxpaying public from manufactures to business men, other operators in the Informal Sector – artisans, drivers, motorcyclists, trade unions and trade associations and stress the need for all to contribute their quotas and discharge their civic duties.

“The governor intend to establish a nexus between improved and adequate IGR and the ability of his administration to provide sustained good governance, at the earliest possible time the state objective is to ensure it has enough IGR to cover all its recurrent expenditures such as salaries and wages, cost of running the government and maintaining infrastructure.

“During the programme, there will be a lead paper from a professor of taxation and fiscal matters and goodwill message from The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Formal and Informal Sectors will be engaged in dialogue equally in the course of the summit.”

The Chairman enjoined all tax payers and general public to turn up en masse for this important dialogue, assuring that it would be a turning point in government-public engagement as poverty to prosperity was not just a slogan but what the government was committed to achieve.

In less than 48hours after the death of the popular Trado-Medical expert, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf also known as Oko Oloyun, scores of investors stormed his office to demand for the money they invested in his Ponzi Scheme.

Oyomind.com.ng recalled that Alhaji Fatai Oko Oloyun was killed by unknown gunmen on Thursday along Abeokuta-Iseyin Road, Oyo State.

Until his death, Oko Oloyun is said to have been running a Ponzi Scheme named “Option C”. Following his demise, investors who invested in his Ponzi scheme stormed the head office of his company to know their fate.

The investors who vowed to take drastic measures if a statement was not issued by the organization as soon as possible got confused as his two offices at Egba Idowu along Igando road in Lagos were shutdown with no one to provide information to the investors.

An investor, who chose to be called Emmanuel explained that Option C is a money-making programme that promised a 10% return in two months.

Emmanuel, who was trembling while speaking, added that he invested in the scheme in July 2019 and had only received returns once, contrary to the agreement of two months which was stated.

Mrs Bunmi (first name withheld), a retired teacher, who was clearly in shock, stated that she had invested millions having joined the programme in December 2018. She said she had only received N500,000 from her investment and that she was not sure of her fate with the death of Oko Oloyun.

While expressing fear with her documents at hand, she added that she filed to pull out after inconsistency in payment but rescinded her decision when she was told that she could not get her investment back in full.

Mr Azeez, another investor, said he invested N1 million in September 2019 and had decided to pull out after he was not paid in November. He, however, vowed to pursue his profit with all his ability.

Mrs Bisola (second name withheld) said she invested the money sent to her by her military husband who is fighting insurgents in North East. She said she could not afford to lose the money. She urged the management to speak up and address the investment programme issue quickly.

Mrs. Sulaimon, an investor, said she aborted her trip to travel down from Badagry to Igando when she had about the assassination of Oko Oloyun.

She noted with tears that she had invested a lot and could not afford to lose her investment. She was however optimistic that the returns would be paid after meeting her co-investors who cheered her up.

However, in the midst of the lamentation, some investors who had visited the house of the late Oko Oloyun in Lagos alleged that they were denied access by the security men, which says “Alhaja said we should not allow anybody come in, they are all in Ibadan.”

After the outcry, the investors agreed among themselves to visit the house of the deceased in Lagos during the Fidau prayers on the eighth day to demand their returns.

However, a security man at Oko Oloyun’s Egan Idowu office alleged that one of the rooms in the head office was intentionally burnt by unknown men prior to Oko Oloyun’s death.

He said the workers who were on duty had been arrested.

The Founder, Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation commiserated with the family of the renowned Trado-Medical therapist, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf, also known as Oko Oloyun who was killed by unknown gunmen on Eruwa-Igboora Road in Ibarapa Central Area of Oyo State.

Oko-Oloyun as he popularly called, was killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen.

Recalling the achievements of the deceased towards producing herbal remedies that have helped a lot of people survive gruesome ailments, he described his death as a great loss to the nation.

According to Okanlawon, “it is becoming a major concern for indigenes, investors and visitors who do ply the Ibarapa road now that the fear of being kidnapped or assassinated is growing. There have been cases of minors whose lives have been gruesomely put to an end due to this incessant occurrence along Ibarapa roads, as well as kidnappings towards the end of year 2019.”

He, however, lauded the efforts of the Southwest governors who have designed a new community policing system (Amotekun) and hopes the new system will start in due course.

Okanlawon also called the attention of the Oyo state government to the rehabilitation of Ibarapa roads.

He explained that if these roads are dualized, the development that would arise would transform all the bushes where these wicked people use as hideouts into sites for investors to erect their firms and companies.

He further explained that “if the local governments and LCDAs in Ibarapa can organize the clearing of the bushes beside the roads to a distance of 20km to each sides, it could keep the bandits at check and probably remove their hideouts making the next 500 meter ahead more exposed enough for a common bottle to hide not to talk of a group of bandits. The industrialization effect of the dual road in Ibarapa can be minimized to a tolerable extent the menace and growth of banditry and robbery in the community has assumed. It would also be a rich investment in saving lives and properties plying the road.”

He concluded that “no amount of investment by the government to effect this good road network would be a waste as an investment in sustainable community development is an investment in the future of Ibarapa, and Oyo state as a whole.”

This is just as he also prayed for divine strength for the executive Governor of Oyo state who has proved to be up to the task in all ramifications and he prayed that God sees him through the development of Oyo state with Ibarapa in the plan.

On Saturday 18th of January, 2020, the Senate -highest decision making body of NANS JCC Oyo State sat to address the lingering leadership issue occasioned by the Vice Chairman parading himself as the Acting Chairman of the Association. The Senate at her sitting resolved to dissolve the entire Executive Council and call for elections. As a dedicated democrat, I abide absolutely by the decision of the Senate.

One would have, however, expected the Senate to do justice to the matter by establishing the authentic leadership of the Association and appropriating deserving punishment to whoever is found guilty of claiming to be what he is not.

Without disrespect, it either the Senate does not understand its powers, or perhaps is afraid to use it. The decision of the Senate is a classical case of sacrificing Justice on the altar of peace. It is a model that has never attained its aim.

Anyone who has followed the turn of events since the beginning of the administration will agree that there has been political machination against the Administration right from inception.

That the administration survived that long has been by the Grace of God, doggedness of Senators, supports of progressive stakeholders and generality of Nigerian students.

Top of the reasons for vested interests in the leadership of the association was the desire by both qualified and un-deserving stakeholders to be appointed as Special Adviser to The Governor on Student Matters. The Governor surprised the Student Community by his choice of appointment, shocking those fanning the embers of crisis and discord.

Personally, I consider Victor Olojede a great choice. Victor Olojede is no stranger, he is a friend of the community, highly cerebral and diplomatic. I am sure someone as ambitious as he is won’t ruin his future with “this small office”.

I believe he shall perform his duties well and stay alert.

The fundamental responsibility of any association should be to protect the interest of its members, this was our watch word all through the rough ride of the administration.

The administration undisputedly delivered on this, upon our inauguration, Students’ Union in six institutions were on suspension, viz :

Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo;

University of Ibadan;

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology(LAUTECH), Ogbomosho;

College of Education(COEL), Lanlate;

Federal School of Surveying, Oyo;

The Polytechnic Ibadan;

Proudly, through collective intervention of the association under my leadership, we ensured reinstament of Students’ Union activities in all these institutions.

Through our efforts, all institutions in Oyo State today have operational and democratically elected Students’ Union leaderships, except for LAUTECH where partisan affiliation and personal interest of certain persons led to the re-suspension of the Union.

My administration as Chairman of Oyo State NANS took stance, followed by corresponding actions on various State and National issues one of which is the Xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

The administration organized a well attended and widely covered procession -“Democracy Day Walk”, aimed at calling the attention of the tertiary institutions management, government and general public in demand for adequate funding of education, reinstatement of all proscribed Students’ Unions and victimised student leaders across Oyo state.

The administration provided purpose driven, student-centred leadership that endeared the rank and file of Students to the association.

Our intellectual approach to the struggle and resistance to attempts to milk the situation earned the Administration a number of enemies at the national level of the association and within the neighborhood, we are proud of that decision and still stand by it as the right approach any time.

In the words of John C. Maxwell – “Everything rises and falls on leadership”, therefore, I take responsibility for all that happened in that administration with full confidence that history will not forget how it all happened.

I thank senators, stakeholders, and the generality of Nigerian students for the support all through the administration.

Moving forward personally, I will be focusing on my academic pursuit and self-development, observe and enjoy the many dramas in the Nigerian polity, get involved in worthy national discuss and continue to contribute to Students, State and National development.

Following the directive of the Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo Chapter, Prince Abass Aleshinloye that its members should resume back to work as duly elected chairmen of councils.

The State Executive Committee of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State on Saturday directed all its members in all the 33 Local Government councils and 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) to stay away from offices as from Monday, January 27, until the issue of Local Government chairmanship is resolved in the state.

This resolution was arrived at after an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) and State Administrative Council (SAC) held at its secretariat on Saturday.

Oyomind.com.ng recalled that the Inspector General of Police had directed the State Commissioner of Police to ensure that the sacked democratically elected local government chairmen resume office.

The resolution reads: “This is to bring to the notice of our members i.e. workers in the Local Government Service of Oyo State, the decision of an emergency state executive council (SEC) meeting held today, 25 January 2020 on the unfolding leadership feud in the local government of Oyo State.

“Arising from the meeting, Local Government workers are hereby directed to stay away from work, effective from Monday, January 2020 until further notice. All offices and adjoining entrances should be under lock and key.

“Our decision is to foster peace and the assurance of safety and security in the workplace. This step is in the interest of our members as well as the general public and the good people of Oyo State.”

Barely 24hours after the assassination of the Oyo APC Leader, Alhaji Arasi Babatunde Oreitan, a popular Trado-Medical mixture expert, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf also known as Oko Oloyun was reportedly killed by unknown gunmen.

Oko Oloyun was confirmed shot around 5pm along Abeokuta-Iseyin road in Oyo State, before he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he gave up the ghost around 9pm.
