As part of measures to create an enabling environment for study and improve the standard of education for students in sciences, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka on Wednesday, 15 July 2020 expressed his delight over the fund received from the government for the Faculty of Science multipurpose building.
Speaking at the turning of the sod of the multipurpose building of the Faculty of Science of the institution, the VC noted that his value for ‘fairness to all’ has enabled him to make use of the opportunity available per time to meet the needs of various faculties in the University of Ibadan.

According to him, he believes in “love your neighbour as yourself” so as to allow an equal share of every given opportunity.
Prof. Olayinka emphasized that the new multipurpose building when completed would add to facilitate the growth of the Faculty and significantly promote efficiency. He thanked God for his faithfulness and trust that the Faculty would make good use of the facility.
Prof Olayinka who has witnessed the transformation was a made so far being a student of the same Faculty of Science forty-three (43) years ago, noted that the only new building in the Faculty since five (5) years is the building in the Department of Geology, which was erected by alumnae.
He, therefore, encouraged alumnus to visit their alma mater and contribute to its development.
The Vice-Chancellor appealed to the contractors handling the project to ensure the delivery of a good and quality job that will serve many generations.
The Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof Abiodun Ayodele expressed great joy for the opportunity to bring to birth the longtime dream of the Faculty, adding that the building will further help to facilitate both teaching and administrative functions.
He appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for the honor to provide the facility and prayed that the work is completed in due time.
