The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. Seun Fakorede MNSE has commended the Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, Dr. Dotun Sanusi, for his role in the selection of 10 players in Oyo State by foreign scouts.

Engr. Fakorede gave the commendation during a visit to the Ilaji Hotels and Resorts boss on Monday.

The scouting team comprised Bagah Afshar of Sports-Supreme, Kari Loytokorpi, Executive Director, NUSAN Salana Club, Dori, Finland, Radim Garian, Goalkeeper coach from Mass Taborsko, Czech Republic, Niloslav Brozi from Prague, Czech Republic, Dennis Mann from Northern Germany, Carsten Weber from Eastern Germany and Maximilian Sailler from Austria, Germany.

During the visit, the Commissioner thanked the CEO for tapping into the idea of the state government in “taking sports to another level” and emphasized that the State government is committed to strengthening the sports sector to “help unite the youths and correspondingly affect the economy.”

The Commissioner hinted that this is evident in the revitalization that is going on in the “sports architecture of the State to bring economic results.”

Meanwhile, Bagah Afshar decried the absence of a database for sports in the country while commending the “high potential of skills deposited in the Nigerian youths” which makes them sellable.

The Commissioner, while reacting, noted that the State government had on November 4 unveiled a sports database for sports enthusiasts in the State and that the State Government is equally working on unveiling a female football team by the first quarter of 2022 as part of the efforts of the Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE government to promote better representation in sports.

On his part, Dr. Sanusi said the Oyo State Government’s investment in the sports industry has in no doubt attracted sports enthusiasts, saying they have shifted attention to Oyo State and that has made the state a “tourist Centre for sports lovers across the world as best sports department in Nigeria”.
