In what can be described as learning from past mistake, the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has concluded plans to honour late former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala with a state burial.

OYOMIND recalls that the case was not same when Makinde’s immediate predecessor, Abiola Ajimobi, died in June 2020.

This, newspaper understands, was occasioned by the sour relationship between Ajimobi and Makinde while alive. The government had alleged that the family did not inform the governor officially that the former governor was sick.

Unlike when Ajimobi died, Makinde, this newspaper also understands, was at the Ogbomoso residence of the Alao-Akala’s just less than 24 hours after they lost their patriarch.

In preparation for what is tagged a ‘befitting’ state burial for late former governor Alao Akala, Governor Seyi Makinde led administration has appointed the state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Prof Lowo Oyewo as the Chairman of the burial committee from the government side.

In a statement released by the deceased media aide, Tolu Mustapha said that the Ogbomoso born professor is liaising with the family being a representative of the government.

Alao-Akala died at his Opadoyin residence in Ogbomoso on Wednesday, 12th January, 2022.

Mustapha, while debunking the news going viral about the date fixed for Alao Akala’s burial reiterated that his late boss “being a former governor of Oyo state, His Excellency, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala will be accorded state Burial hence the state Government is fully involved in his burial plans.

“Consultation are ongoing and we will reliably inform the general public on activities lined up to give His Excellency a befitting burial.

“I can assure you he will be celebrated across the length and Breath of Oyo state,” he said
