Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has revealed how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu picked Adebayo Adelabu as minister instead of Bimbo Adekanmbi, whom he had recommended for the position.
Makinde made the revelation during a media chat on Fresh FM, where he recounted how he approached Tinubu with his preferred candidate for the ministerial appointment.
According to the governor, he had proposed Adekanmbi, insisting that he was capable of serving as a minister. However, Tinubu went ahead to nominate Adelabu for the position.
The revelation offers a glimpse into the political discussions that preceded the ministerial appointments under the Tinubu administration and the president’s decision to go with a different candidate from the one proposed by the Oyo governor.
Makinde also spoke about the political arrangement involving the G5 governors, claiming that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was the only major beneficiary of the alliance.
He argued that most of the ministerial appointments were made by Tinubu, suggesting that other members of the G5 did not benefit significantly from the political arrangement.
