Eid-il-Fitri: Sharafadeen Alli Felicitates Muslim Faithfuls, Urges Them To Adopt Moderations in the Celebration

A former Secretary to the State Government, Oloye Sharafadeen Alli has sent his felicitation message to Muslim faithful in Oyo state onon the completion of the Ramadan fasting and celebration of Eid-el-fitri.

The Ex-Chairman of Oodua Group in his words said that “when the land is troubled, the prayers of the faithful will heal the land”. He further prayed that Allah accept the thrity-day fast as an act of Ibadah and save the World, our Nation Nigeria and Oyo State from the coronavirus pestilence bedeviling the whole of humanity.

The Governorship Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party in the 2019 elections but had to jettison his ambition for the coalition that birthed the current government in the state enjoined all to adopt moderations in the celebrations and adhere strictly to the precautionary measures laid down to avoid further spread of the Virus.

He advised those who eschewed ill acts during the fasting period to shy away from the temptation to revert to them after Ramadan.

The Ibadan Senior Chief wished both Muslims and Non-Muslims a Happy eid-el-Fitri celebration.

EID-UL-FITR: Tegbe Congratulates Muslims, Distributes Palliatives Across LGs in Oyo State

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State and the founder of Tegbe Foundation, Engr. Olasunkanmi Joseph Tegbe has distributed another batch of palliatives to people across the 33 local governments of the state.

The distribution, which is the 3rd since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the state coincides with the end of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-el Fitr celebration.

While congratulating Muslim Faithful on the completion of the Ramadan fast, Tegbe urged every citizen to continue praying for Nigeria and Oyo state in particular.

He said, “I congratulate all the Muslim faithful for the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan. May Allah answer all prayers. I urge all the people of Oyo state to continue to stay safe during this unprecedented period of COVID-19.

He noted that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected citizens economically and socially and this has prompted the move by the foundation to distribute food items across the state. The APC chieftain reiterated the importance of supporting the people of the state with food items as good nutrition improves individual immune system which is crucial in fighting the pandemic.

Over 5,000 benefitted from the distribution of these relief items.

Tegbe Foundation is a not for profit organization founded by Olasunkanmi Joseph Tegbe a former 2019 APC Governorship aspirant in Oyo state. Tegbe Foundation provides support for widows, farmers, market women, SMEs, and startups.

The Oyo State Covid-19 Task Force has confirmed the discharged one of the patient whose second test result came back negative.

According to Governor Makinde who is the Chairman of the Oyo State Covid-19 Task Force, the patient has been tested twice before the discharge and that brings the number of discharged cases in the state to forty-nine.

More so, the confirmation test for thirteen suspected cases came back positive. It was gathered that eleven out of the thirteen cases are from iSON Xperiences.

The other two cases are from Afijio and Ibadan North East Local Government areas which make the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State to be 203.

Institution Offers Scholarship, Job and N100,000 To Student Who Built Solar-Powered Hand Washing Unit

The management of Ajayi Crowther University has commended the innovation of one of the students, Mr. Aderinola Joshua, a 300level student of the Department of Physics and Electronics who invented solar-powered automatic handwashing, drying and rinsing unit.

At the University premises on Thursday, 21st April 2020 where Joshua went to showcase the invention, a team led by the Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Students Matters, Hon. Olojede Victor.

OYOMIND.COM.NG earlier reported that the prototype of the invention was displayed at the Oyo state secretariat at the presence of some government officials, among which are the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olabamiwo Adeosun, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Olasunkanmi Aremu who applauded it.

Speaking on behalf of the principal management staff of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dapo Asaju expressed that the institution commended the innovation of Mr. Joshua and for making the institution proud.

The Vice-Chancellor thereby approved a scholarship that covers the remaining year to be spent in school, offered him employment after graduation, and a cash reward of N100,000.

Hon. Victor also led the student to the House of Assembly where the Speaker Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin and some other assembly members were amazed about the project and promised to help promote the project.

JUST IN: Oyo Records 28 New Cases of Coronavirus

28 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Oyo state.

This is contained in a tweet by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday, 21st May 2020.

According to NCDC, 339 new cases were recorded with 139 cases coming from Lagos State.

The total number of covid-19 cases recorded in Nigeria now is 7016, 1907 discharged and 211 dead.

CORONAVIRUS: 15 Out of 19 New COVID-19 Cases Are From iSON Xperiences As Oyo Discharges Two

The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has announced that nineteen suspected cases of coronavirus came back positive.

According to the Chairman of the Task Force, Governor Seyi Makinde who made the announcement through his social media handles on Wednesday 20 May 2020, fifteen out of the nineteen new cases are iSON Xperience, the already locked company that had over fifty cases already.

“Two confirmed COVID-19 patients have received their second NEGATIVE test results and have been discharged. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to forty-eight.

“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for nineteen suspected cases came back POSITIVE. Fifteen are from iSON Xperiences in Ibadan South West Local Government Area (LGA), 2 are from Ido LGA and 1 is from Ibadan South East LGA. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 162.” He tweeted

Makinde Tours Ibadan, Distributes Palliative in Foko, Agbeni, Oja’ba

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has conducted the distribution of palliatives in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Governor Makinde in the process of handing over the food items to people in Ibadan, toured the city starting from Oke-Ado, through to Foko, Agbeni, Oja’ba, Mapo, under both Ibadan Southwest and North local governments, respectively.

Speaking through his Executive adviser on Agri-business, Dr. Debo Akande, Governor Makinde maintained that the first phase of the palliative distribution has ended.

He further explained that 90 thousand poorest of the poor households have been reached so far and the distribution of palliatives to the 30 thousand households targeted for the second phase of the economic stimulus package will commence in due course.

He also disclosed hat aside from food items, seedlings and agthe ricultural inputs will be distributed to ten thousand farmers across Oyo state to boost the state food security.

It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde flagged off the distribution of palliatives in Igboora, Ibarapa zone about two weeks ago to alleviate the suffering of the masses during the wake of Covid-19.

OYTRMA Impounds Vehicles As Agency Begins Full Operation in Oke-Ogun

The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has begun full operation in the Oke-Ogun zone of Oyo State.

According to the Executive Chairman, OYRTMA, Dr. Akin Fagbemi in Saki, the Agency deployed a special squad comprising some of its best officers to kickstart a full day and night operations in the region.

Dr. Akin Fagbemi also said about 15 motorcycles, 9 commercial cars and buses, 3 private vehicles and 4 trailers were impounded in Saki, for flagrantly violating the COVID-19 preventive measures and dusk-dawn curfew imposed by the State Government.

Dr. Fagbemi submitted that “Since inception of Governor Makinde’s administration, the Oke-Ogun axis has been identified as a strategic location with entry point into the country and it deserves effective manning and monitoring, considering its proximity to the Republic of Benin and other States within Nigeria”.

He revealed that the Agency’s operations at the Oke Ogun zone of the State was approved by the Executive Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, which is expected to enhance free vehicular movement.

He said “Governor Seyi Makinde has therefore, gracefully approved the commencement of our full day and night operations in the Oke-Ogun Zone with the immediate mandate to ensure free vehicular movement as well as join other security agencies to enforce the outlined guidelines and procedures aimed at tackling head-on the novel corona virus disease”.

He added that Governor Makinde has given the Oke-Ogun Zonal Command a towing vehicle, Patrol Van and 2 brand new Surveillance Power Bikes to enhance the Authority’s activities.

OYRTMA’s operations has so far started at Iseyin along the Moji Elepo Isalu, Post Office, Oluwole Area, Agip Area, Emperor Barracks among other routes.

Oyo State Government on Tuesday has sternly warned occupants of illegal structures/Shanties adjoined to UMC Demonstration School, Molete, Ibadan to remove their valuables and vacate the space within 7-days.

Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, who disclosed this, urged them to immediately vacate the entire area as well as the vicinity of the School within the stipulated period.

He said: “This School belongs to Oyo State government and it has an approved plan. This Government would not tolerate any form of impunity because these adjoined structures were never part of the plan”.

“The Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde is determined to ensure strict compliance with masterplan for our Schools, which is aimed at ensuring the development of a clean and safe environment for our pupils”, he added.

Dr. Adeniran revealed that the Board received petitions from the authorities of the School that one Shehu Hammed, a self-acclaimed Chairman, Schools Based Management Committee of the School has been encroaching into the space and erected the illegal kiosks.

He revealed that the said Sheu has been arrested and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, for further questioning and investigation.

Dr. Adeniran further affirmed that the arrest and subsequent demolition became imperative following outcry by management of the Public School that criminal elements have turned the area into hideouts for carrying out their nefarious activities thereby making the environment unpleasant for learning.

The Chairman confirmed that investigation conducted revealed also that Sheu collected monthly rents from occupants of the illegal structures, without any permit or operating license from the Oyo State Government.

He reiterated that, immediately after the expiration of the ‘Quit Notice’ next week, the Board will embark on a clean-up exercise in the area and a clampdown on any recalcitrant occupant.
