The Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and governorship aspirant of the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, has declared support for the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, pledging eight buses to strengthen the group’s mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Publicity Director of the movement, Gbenga Oyetola, who said the visit formed part of ongoing consultations and relationship-building efforts with political stakeholders across the state.
According to the statement, Alli made the pledge on Saturday while receiving leaders and members of the movement during a courtesy visit in Ibadan.
The senator commended the growing participation of youths in politics and governance, describing young people as a major force in Nigeria’s electoral process.
“I’m so happy seeing the youths involved in the political system. Our plan is to deliver 1.2 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Oyo State,” Alli said.
He noted that Nigerian youths constitute a significant percentage of the country’s voting population and must therefore play active roles in political mobilisation and advocacy.
“We have a large percentage of the voting population in Nigeria because youths are more than 60 per cent. We need younger people involved in mobilisation and advocacy to ensure that President Tinubu and other APC candidates are elected,” he stated.
The lawmaker urged members of the movement to remain committed and intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the next election cycle.
“I urge them to pick it up and ensure they do their best. Some of them can also seek elective offices so that what they are pursuing can be realised,” Alli added.
He further appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting the APC, assuring them that the party would not disappoint the people.
“The people of Oyo State should continue to vote for APC and they will not be let down,” he said.
Alli also assured the group of his continued support, adding that the donation of eight buses was aimed at strengthening their operations and coordination activities across the state.
The Director of the City Boy Movement, Femi Onireti, said the group remained committed to mobilising young people across Oyo State in support of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
He noted that the movement would continue expanding its grassroots presence while encouraging greater youth participation in governance and politics
Speaking during the visit, the Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Chief Ahmed Ajibola, said the visit was part of efforts to deepen engagement with political stakeholders and expand the movement’s grassroots structures.
According to him, the movement has built structures across all political levels in the state to improve mobilisation and participation.
“This visitation is about support and familiarity with stakeholders in the state. In our structure, we make sure we cover the entire state, from senatorial districts to federal constituencies, local governments and wards,” Ajibola said.
He added that the movement was targeting one million votes for President Tinubu in Oyo State during the 2027 presidential election.
“With our target, we are working on one million votes for Oyo State, and all the youths in the state are ready to work with us because we share the same ideology,” he stated.
The visit was attended by leaders and members of the movement from different parts of Oyo State.
