The Senate Council of the National Body of Federation of Oyo State Students (FOSSU) has commended the efforts of the former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala, and the incumbent Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over the sole ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH.

In a statement signed by the National Senate President and Clerk, Senator Ajadi Isaac and Senator Oyetunde Wasiu congratulated the Makinde led administration for the giant strides on what seems difficult for previous administrations to achieve.

OYOMIND recalls that the Nigerian Universities Commission earlier announced the Osun State Government had agreed to cede LAUTECH to Oyo State Government.

According to FOSSU Senate, Former Governor Alao Akala has truly been vindicated for he laid down a smooth and clear path for his predecessors to be able to achieve sole ownership.

The Student Body made recommended that the state government make LAUTECH a conventional and provide more infrastructural facilities to complement the existing ones among others.

The statement reads in part:

When the news hit the ground, like a blast of wind mixed with a pleasant complexion of song, it gets people astounded, and people of Oyo state danced tirelessly and blend with it. The long term bias, insincere, and parasitic ownership of an institution by two dominant states have been detached.

‘LAUTECH is now owned by Oyo state only! Congratulations to the present administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde; To Lautech students who have undergone severe lacerations caused by the shared ownership, which instead of taken them to a pedestal of greatness, dragged them back. God bless seyi Makinde, He has done in no time what past administrations can not do”

The above is the sincere summary 70 per cent of the posted articles on the social media, after the scenery of lautech sole ownership — With diverse of bias, myopic comments under them which brought to transparency the psychological status of the delibrate distortion of history by some elites.

It’s disheartening and pathetic, that we easily overlooked truth as far we have subscribed to the tariff of whom our heart is in love with, we easily forget the catalyst, as far as we have gotten a fast food.

Enough of the parable, where are the accolades and Hearty Thanks, the type that get one to a vast yard of elation for taking the right step, and supporting the good movement with rare understanding to Osun state first citizen, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola? Instead, it’s indifferent we offer his kind mind. What a dumb intention!

Unlike, the immediate past administrator, Osun state government laid down things, possibly, sacrifice what others might have called ‘sacrilege.’ Yet, he’s not appreciated.

The saddest of all is how this won battle, blindly wipes out the immeasurable strides made by the Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala’s towards gaining this same institution back to the state, when he was in the office as the Oyo state Governor. But, the clock was ticking too fast when the negotiations were about to yield. Yet, he had laid down a clear and smooth path for whoever assumes the office.

Before it was forgotten by past Napoleonic and self-centred administration. Nobody mention him nor his efforts.

All these, however, portray us as a set of people who appreciate the rain that wet their farmland, instead of them to stoop to the lowest point, raise their eyes to the heaven and thank God for the gift of water. Can rain fall itself? No!. Adebayo Alao Akala has fought the battle to the core, yet, all the speakers blare the sound filled with lyrics of the finisher.

Without mincing words or conceal truths behind the tongue, Alao Akala is Truly vindicated. And the best way to congratulate Oyo state or administration is not by veiling others struggles and award all the accolades to the administrator in favouring a political party. Once again, Congratulations Ogbomosho, Oyo state.

In Conclusion, as we congratulate the government and the good of Oyo State, we recommend the following:

  1. Lautech should be a Conventional University
  2. More Infrastructure should be provided to complement the existing ones.
  3. Provision should be made for Hostel facilities for interested students.
