An Open Letter to Governor Seyi Makinde || Adisa Muhammed Oluwatosin

Dear Executive Governor of Oyo state, it is of immense concern and an important subject I write to you, sir. I really commend your indefatigable efforts towards the growth of our dear state and country at large. May the Lord keep being with you

As a stakeholder, an indigene, a youth of this Pace Setter State, and as a student, the educational affairs of this State is a thought that I do sleep with. The status quo of the state tertiary institutions specifically about the school fees has always been the major constituent of my thoughts.

Our state institutions are chasing away citizens due to the high rate of school fees. Larger attendants of these institutions are the wards of the poor and the middle class who are striving hard to get their ends meet. Many who wish to study have withdrawn from school due to financial incapability.

There are up to ten tertiary institutions in the state and which their school fees are high and might not be affordable to the less privileged ones. We have colleges of education, polytechnics, colleges of technology, school of nursing, Technical University and a university of technology which is jointly owned by Oyo and Osun State.

Inter alia, LAUTECH acceptance fee is ₦30,000 while the school fee is close to ₦150,000. In the same vein, the Polytechnic, Ibadan school fee payment is close to ₦50,000, to mention but a few.

Your Excellency sir, it will be of great achievement if your administration can assist in reducing the school fees of these institutions. It will be a good dividend of democracy which all students across the state can enjoy if this matter is attended to and treated seriously.

Thank you, sir, Great Oyo State.
