The Aggrieved People Democratic Party Group (PDP) in Oyo State, has criticised the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) over its comments on the reconciliation efforts within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, describing the party’s position as unnecessary interference in the internal affairs of the APC.
The group, while reacting to a statement by the APM which described the APC reconciliation committee as “dead on arrival” ahead of the 2027 general election said it lacks moral right to comment on the APC’s internal affairs.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Hon. Abeeb Babatunde, the Aggrieved PDP Group said the APC remains a democratic party with established mechanisms for resolving internal differences and does not require advice from opposition parties.
The group urged the APM to focus on its own political challenges instead of commenting on the affairs of the APC.
According to the statement, the group described APM as a party who has abandoned its primary purpose of responsibility of promoting its own candidates and has instead resorted to poking its nose into the affairs of the opposition. It further alleged that the APM is jiltery over the AOC’s composure and its timely constitution of a reconciliation committee.
The Aggrieved PDP Group also questioned the APM’s criticism of the APC while supporting a governorship hopeful who previously served under the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
“APM is jiltery of the composure of the APC. Its leadership should focus on its primary responsibility of promoting its own candidates rather than attacking a party that has already hit the ground running to bring its aggrieved members back on board.
“Allow the APC to conduct its affairs in line with their constitution and democratic processes, because only party members have the right to determine the party’s direction.”
The group further called on political parties to focus on offering practical solutions to the challenges facing Oyo State rather than interfering in the internal affairs of other parties.
It expressed confidence that the APC’s reconciliation process would strengthen the party and better position it ahead of the forthcoming general election in 2027.
