ADC Candidate, Adegboyega Laments ‘Inhumane’ Treatment, Fingers Makinde Ally Seye Famojuro Over Billboard Removal

The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, has accused a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, Seye Famojuro, of allegedly orchestrating the removal and replacement of his campaign billboards across Ibadan.

Adegboyega made the allegations during an interview on Fresh 105.9 FM, where he expressed deep frustration over what he described as deliberate attempts to frustrate his campaign activities. According to him, his billboards were initially removed on the assumption that his payment for the advertising spaces had expired, despite having valid payment receipts.

The ADC candidate said he initially confronted the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, after seeing his billboard replaced, but Adekanmbi denied involvement. Adegboyega said his subsequent investigation allegedly led him to Famojuro, prompting him to ask people to appeal to Governor Makinde to intervene.

He said he provided evidence of payment to the relevant parties, including Governor Makinde and Alhaji Bisi Olopoeniyan, while the agent managing the billboard locations also reportedly confirmed through a voice note that he had not defaulted in payment.

Adegboyega further alleged that even after his billboard was reinstalled following an intervention attributed to the governor, the agent was allegedly threatened by individuals, including a consultant associated with the Oyo State Advertising Agency, identified as Bode. He claimed the agent was warned that all billboards in the area could be removed and replaced with flowers if his billboard remained.

According to him, a similar situation had allegedly occurred around Total Garden, Ibadan, where a large billboard was reportedly destroyed after the space could not be used.

The ADC candidate said he eventually instructed his team to withdraw the billboard to avoid putting the agent’s business at risk, despite having an active payment arrangement for the advertising space.

Expressing his bitterness over the development, Adegboyega described the alleged treatment as unfair and inhumane, saying: “On the billboard, I am being cheated, and they all will be cheated too by God’s grace.”

His allegations could not be independently verified, and neither Famojuro nor the other individuals mentioned were quoted in the interview responding to the claims.
