The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially declared Hon. Abubakar Olalekan Bello, popularly known as Ballo, as its candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly (OYHA), representing Ibadan North Constituency I.
Ballo emerged as the party’s consensus candidate during the SDP primary election held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
A vibrant grassroots leader, youth advocate, and promoter of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ballo is widely recognized for his contributions to community development initiatives across several communities. He hails from Ejitolu Compound, Temidire, Oje Ward 3, in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In his acceptance remarks, Ballo expressed deep appreciation to the SDP national leadership, the Oyo State Party Leader, Hon. Alhaja Akande Mulikat Adeola, state executives, local government stakeholders, ward chairmen, party members, and his support group for the trust placed in him.
He described his emergence as a significant opportunity for youth inclusion in governance and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Ballo assured that, if elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly, he would champion people-oriented legislation and policies aimed at improving quality education, boosting youth employment, supporting local businesses, enhancing community engagement, and strengthening security to protect lives and property across the state.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to working diligently with party members and supporters to secure victory for the SDP in the 2027 general elections in Ibadan North Constituency I.
Calling for unity, Ballo urged party faithful, supporters, and residents of the constituency to rally behind his candidacy and work collectively towards the success of the party.
He emphasized that the moment represents a new wave of youth-driven leadership, declaring, “It’s youth o’clock,” as momentum builds toward the 2027 elections under the “IleriOluwa 2027” vision.
