As Nigerians are in the mood of this year’s Independence Day celebration, the Nigeria Police Force (NFP) has prevented the odd against the clamor for togetherness and unity among all groups, halting the planned secession rally called by Sunday Igboho.
Sunday Igboho alongside his supporters , on Thursday, October 1st, 2020, threw caution to the wind like the coast was clear, as they converged at his residence in Soka Area, Ibadan, to embark on the planned rally.
They set out in their numbers with banners, drums and trumpets, demonstrating all kinds of expressions while on the journey that seemed to be fraught with dangers.
In what could be described as an unexpected development, they were stopped by members of the Nigeria Police Force and were restricted from taking the rally beyond the Soka junction.
Following their encounter with the policemen, they succumbed and suspended the secession rally, without any form of violence.
OYOMIND earlier reported how the renowned human right activist, Sunday Igboho, had set October 1st, Nigeria’s Independence Day, for a secession rally, to call for a new country- Oduduwa Republic.
According to Sunday Igboho, the secession rally would be a mega one which would be staged across Ibadan, Oyo state capital, as it was meant to demand and create awareness on the secession of the Yorubas and the establishment of the Oduduwa Republic.
He thereby Sounded a note of warning, urging the Nigeria Police Force to allow them observe their constitutional rights to protest and rally or risk the wrath of the Oduduwa.
