Ibadan Senior Chief and veteran journalist, Chief Lekan Alabi, has died at the age of 76.
Alabi, who held the traditional title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, passed away in Lagos, according to a statement issued by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.
A respected journalist and public communicator, Alabi enjoyed a distinguished career in public service, serving as Press Secretary to successive former governors of Oyo State. He was widely admired for his contributions to journalism, governance, and strategic communication.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, the late Alabi was a prominent figure in Ibadan’s traditional institution and played an active role in the Olubadan chieftaincy system as the Abese Olubadan.
Family sources disclosed that he will be laid to rest on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
The family is expected to announce further details regarding his burial arrangements and other funeral activities in due course.
