Oyo 2027: SDP Assembly Aspirant, Abubakar Olalekan Bello ‘BALLO’ Pledges Bill to Cover WAEC Fees for Students

An aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hon. Abubakar Olalekan Bello, popularly known as BALLO, has pledged to prioritise education if elected in the 2027 general elections.

BALLO, who hails from Oje in the Temidire Zone, Ward 3 of Ibadan North Local Government Area, made this known during an interview on Omoluabi FM 87.7 on April 24, 2026, while featuring on a programme titled “Lati Ilé Ìgbìmọ̀ Àṣòfin.”

Speaking during the programme, the aspirant emphasised that access to quality education should not be determined by financial status. He disclosed plans to sponsor a bill that would mandate the next administration in the state to take responsibility for the payment of WAEC fees for secondary school students.

According to him, the proposed initiative is designed to address the growing number of students unable to complete their Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) due to financial challenges. He noted that the policy would not only ease the burden on parents and guardians but also help keep young people in school and reduce their exposure to social vices.

“Education is not a privilege; it is a right,” BALLO stated.

He further appealed to constituents in Ibadan North Constituency 1 to support his ambition, assuring them of effective representation and a commitment to policies that will improve the welfare of the people.
