He proceeded to the University of Ilorin, earning a degree in Business Administration in 1985. He later advanced to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, obtaining an MBA and an MSc in Political Science in 1992 and 2009, respectively. He further earned his PhD from the University of Abuja in 2014. Additionally, he attended leadership and governance executive programs at Harvard University in 2019 and 2022, further strengthening his administrative and strategic capacity.
His career before politics also demonstrates discipline and professional growth. He began in the banking sector at Allied Bank of Nigeria Plc during his NYSC in 1985–1986. He joined UTC Motors as a Management Trainee, rising to the position of Manager by 1990. He later moved to SCOA Motors, where he served as Branch Manager and subsequently as Deputy General Manager between 1990 and 1998. In 1998, he founded ABADAT Motors, which was officially commissioned by Former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 an indicator of the scale and significance of the enterprise.
As a three-term Senator, Senator Buhari has made remarkable contributions to the development and empowerment of his people. His achievements span human capital development, provision of employment opportunities within and beyond Oyo North, empowerment initiatives, health outreach programs, and education support schemes. Notably, he facilitated 56 ICT/CBT centers across the senatorial district, expanding access to digital learning and examination infrastructure.
