Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has announced the dissolution of the caretaker committee members in all local governments and LCDAs as their three months tenure expires on Friday, 19th March, 2022.
In a letter signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Bayo Lawal on behalf of the governor ordered that the committee members hand over the administration to the heads of local governments administration in their respective councils before leaving their offices.
The letter dated 17th March, 2021 reads thus:
“HAND OVER BY CARETAKER COMMITTEE MEMBERS”
“I wish to refer to the above subject and inform you that following the expiration of the three (3) months tenure extension given to all Caretaker Committee Members by the Oyo State House of Assembly which expires on Friday 19, March, 2021, members of the Committee are to vacate office latest by Thursday 18th March, 2021.
“To this end, in order to ensure continuity in all the Local Government Councils in the State, the Caretaker Chairmen should handover the administration to the Heads of Local Government Administration in their respective Councils before vacating their offices.
“Consequently, the Heads of Local Government Administration are hereby directed to takeover the administration running and day-to-day operations of their respective councils, effective from Friday 19th March, 2021, pending the assumption of offices by elected officials.”
