In less than four months after sacking the immediate past Commissioner for Works and Transport, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has appointed Alh Lawal Ismail Ayansiju as a replacement.

This is contained in a letter sent to the Oyo State House of Assembly on Monday, 30th November 2020 for the ratification of the new nominee.

OYOMIND.COM.NG recalls that Governor Makinde on August 10, 2020, relieved Professor Raphael Afonja of his duty as Commissioner for Works and Transport after recovering from COVID-19.

The Governor in the letter said the appointment was to fill the vacuum created in the Ministry since the termination of the appointment of Prof Raphael Afonja.

The letter read in part ” I wish to inform the Honorable House that another personality considered suitable to serve as Honorable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, had been decided in the person of Alh Lawal Ismail Ayansiju. On this basis, the Rt Hon Speaker and other Honorable members are therefore requested to kindly screen and consider his appointment as Honorable Commissioner “

Reading the letter at the floor of the House, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said the screening of the Commissioner-designate would be done before the House goes on recess.

The Sepeteri born Nominee who is to fill this vacuum has been asked to appear before the legislature on the 14th December 2020 for screening.
