A chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Ibrahim Ajiboye, popularly known as Omo Iya Eleja, has formally declared his intention to contest the seat.
Omo Iya Eleja made his ambition known during a meeting with key stakeholders of the party in the local government, including local government executives, ward executives, youth leaders, and other party faithful.
The consultative meeting, which was attended by prominent party leaders and grassroots mobilisers, provided the aspirant with an opportunity to formally present his aspiration and seek the support of stakeholders ahead of the party’s nomination process.
Addressing the gathering, Omo Iya Eleja reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the APM and pledged to provide inclusive and people-oriented leadership if elected as chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government.
He stressed the importance of unity within the party, urging members to remain committed to strengthening the APM ahead of the forthcoming local government election.
Ajiboye also assured party members that his administration, if given the mandate, would prioritise grassroots development, youth empowerment, improved community engagement, and policies aimed at enhancing the welfare of residents across the local government.
Party stakeholders at the meeting commended the aspirant for consulting widely with members and encouraged all aspirants to embrace internal democracy and peaceful engagement throughout the party’s selection process.
The Oyo State local government election is expected to witness keen competition as political parties intensify consultations and mobilisation across the state’s 33 local government areas.
