The executive governor of OYO state, Engineer Seyi Makinde has said that he has changed Ibadan from what it used to be in the past to a city full of new development that attracts people from all of the states in the country.
Makinde made this statement in Ibadan on Thursday, 20th October 2022 while presenting his speech at the 11th Lecture series of Chief Emeka Anyaoku with the theme; IMPERATICE OF GOOD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA organized by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede.
The governor used the opportunity of the occasion to react to some claims on the construction of Bus terminals by Senator Teslim Folarin and Bayo Adelabu who are both APC and Accord Party gubernatorial candidates respectively.
The two major opposition’s gubernatorial candidates who condemned the bus terminals said they would convert it to libraries, and hospitals.
In his reaction, Makinde said they both goofed because he has done the best for the good people of oyo state by using the terminals to boost the economy of the state.
He said “I have changed what Ibadan used to be over the years, and new development has been brought in to the city.
“Some of my opponents try to make issue out of the Bus terminals that we have built. To expand our economy, transportation is one of the area to pay attention to, people from different states can see buy and sleep.
“People are coming from the North, South East and all around Nigeria to Ibadan, so if we can have a stand at the Bus Terminal for them to eat and rest is a brilliant idea.”
