The Bashorun Musulumi of Ibadanland and All Progressives Congress candidate for Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East Federal Constituency, Alhaji Ibraheem Olayode Iyiola, has congratulated Nigerians on the 2026 Democracy Day celebration. He urged citizens to remain steadfast in upholding democratic ideals and advancing national development.
In his Democracy Day message, Iyiola described June 12 as a historic milestone that embodies the resilience, courage, and collective resolve of Nigerians in pursuit of democratic governance. He said the sacrifices of pro-democracy heroes must continue to inspire present and future generations to uphold justice, accountability, equity, and good governance.
“Democracy remains the most viable system for fostering inclusive development and ensuring citizens’ voices shape government decisions,” he said. “Today, we celebrate not only our democratic journey but also the enduring spirit of Nigerians. Democracy thrives when citizens participate actively, hold leaders accountable, and work together for the common good.”
The APC House of Representatives candidate called on political leaders at all levels to deliver responsive, people-oriented leadership and policies that improve citizens’ lives. He also urged constituents in Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East to promote peace, unity, and mutual understanding as foundations for sustainable development.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, Iyiola emphasized collective action to address socio-economic challenges and build a nation where every citizen can thrive.
“As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us renew our commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence, and the democratic principles that bind us as one people. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and more inclusive Nigeria,” he stated.
He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration.
