Who would have thought? Who, after the defeat of 2023, after the prodigal son ran to Accord and came back with a ministerial cap gifted by the same President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would have thought he would become the choir-master for “Seyi Makinde for President”?
Yes. Read it again.
The Ex-Minister of Power is now the power behind Makinde’s Presidential daydream against his benefactor.
Tongues are not just wagging in Ibadanland. Tongues are on marathon.
From Beere to Bodija, from Oja’ba to Jericho, and Iyaganku Quarters, the question is the same: What is Adelabu doing? Since the APC ticket slipped from his hands – since the party chose Sharafadeen Alli over him – Adelabu has vowed in his heart that if he cannot have the party, the party must burn.
He told a former Senator, with the coldness of a man who thinks the world owes him, that he does not care if Tinubu loses in 2027. Why? Because the ticket did not come to him. Entitlement has become ideology. Ingratitude has become policy.
But a man cannot hide character forever.
Look closely and you will see the footprints. His shadow, his PA, his man-Friday, the one called Jiboye – Ajiboye Sangogade, alias Boye Nation – is today the poster boy of Seyi for President and APM. He is the master of ceremonies of a political jamboree at Adamasingba next week to unveil APM candidates.
Will Adelabu tell us he does not know? Will the Oga feign blindness to what his boy does in broad daylight with his own data and his own money? Can a masquerade deny its drummer?
This is the same APC that washed him, that accommodated him after his inglorious dance to Accord in 2023, that gave him a high table when he should have been at the backyard.
This is anti-party wearing agbada. This is betrayal with electricity.
Let it be said now before 2027: If APC wins the Presidency in Oyo, let no reward go again to traitors in ministerial suits. Loyalty must have meaning. Commitment must count.
Adelabu’s cup – long rumoured to be full – is now overflowing.
And as our elders say: No sleep for the wicked.
