Recent environmental crisis ranging from poor management of waste system in the city of Ibadan as earlier reported by OYOMIND had been causing series of endemic problems in the lifestyle of the people in the state, particularly Ibadan which is the capital.
Late yesterday as the heavy rain fell, series of upturn was recorded as the popular Agodi Gardens in Ibadan was flooded without explanation.
The recreational center owned by the government of Oyo state, which was located adjacent to the Governor’s office witnessed what all and sundry referred to as “Omiyale”(flood) as residents who are available during this period lamented about the loss of property caused by the flood.
While many attributed the cause of the flooding to blocked drainage and inadequacy in the management of drainage system at the garden, other attributed the cause to the poor attitude of the Government to the management of flooding in the city of Ibadan.
While this case can be likened to the Ibadan flood of 2011, before the Ibadan Urban Flooding Management Project (IUFMP), an agency of the United Nations to combat flooding had earlier accused the Oyo State government in its the management of various projects earmarked by the IUFMP.
Although, information reaching us have it that the state government had apologized and the IUFMP are back to work.
