Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has appointed renowned grassroots politician and legal practitioner, Asiwaju (Barrister) Yemi Aderibigbe, as the Director-General of his campaign council ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The appointment was contained in a statement personally signed by the Oyo South senator on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan.
Alli said the decision was driven by Aderibigbe’s remarkable track record of selfless service, grassroots mobilisation and unwavering commitment to progressive politics in Oyo State.
He described the former Chairman of Akinyele Local Government Area as a seasoned political leader whose connection with the grassroots has remained strong over the years, adding that his passion for improving the lives of ordinary people has earned him widespread respect across the state.
The APC flagbearer expressed confidence that Aderibigbe’s wealth of experience, administrative competence and deep understanding of the state’s political landscape would provide the strategic leadership needed to coordinate the party’s campaign and galvanise support across all zones.
According to Alli, Aderibigbe has consistently distinguished himself as one of the leading figures in the progressive movement in Oyo State, making notable contributions to the state’s political, social and economic development.
He further praised the new campaign Director-General for his loyalty to the APC, his ability to unite party members and his dedication to mentoring younger politicians, describing him as a dependable bridge-builder and committed progressive.
“We have chosen him to lead, organise and mobilise members of our great party and the people of Oyo State towards ensuring the success of the APC at the polls.
“As an experienced administrator with an impeccable record of public service, I am convinced that his leadership will strengthen our campaign and position the party for victory.
“I have every confidence that he will work harmoniously with other distinguished leaders and members of the campaign council to deliver on this important assignment,” Alli stated.
Aderibigbe previously served as Chairman of Akinyele Local Government Area and later as Special Adviser on Transport during the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi. His appointment is widely seen as part of the APC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
