Amid rising political tension in Oyo State, Shola Ladoja, son of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, has clarified that the visit of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, to his father was not for anti party but for Kabiyesi’s blessing on this gubernatorial aspiration.
Shola made the clarification following earlier claims that suggested the meeting was linked to a purported impeachment or a to work against PDP and ongoing political manoeuvres within the state.
In a post that has generated reactions online, he explained that his initial statement had been misinterpreted, stressing that there was no monetary motive behind facilitating the meeting between the Speaker and the monarch.
“My recent tweet was deleted because I realised a lot of people thought I meant a payment receipt. No. I meant receipt of our conversations,” he said.
While acknowledging that he had facilitated the meeting, Shola insisted that the interaction should not be construed as part of any impeachment arrangement.
“I was the one who took Debo Ogundoyin to Kabiyesi (my father), but it should not be misinterpreted as a game behind Governor Makinde it’s just a fatherly blessing to his aspiration “he clarified.
The development comes amid heightened speculation over alleged political alignments and impeachment plots targeting Governor Seyi Makinde, claims which have been repeatedly denied by key actors.
Shola’s clarification is seen as an attempt to douse growing tension and speculation surrounding the role of traditional and political actors in the state’s unfolding political discourse.
As of the time of filing this report, the Speaker, Ogundoyin, has not issued any official response regarding the claims and subsequent clarification.
