Bello Matawalle has consistently demonstrated uncommon goodwill and commitment to the APC in Zamfara State. Through deliberate efforts at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, promoting unity among stakeholders, supporting party members, and ensuring Zamfara’s strong presence at the national level, he has invested heavily, both politically and personally, in the growth of the APC in the state.
We understand that Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State is eager to join the APC, largely due to the deepening divisions and internal crises within his party, the PDP. However, this reality does not justify attempts to undermine or discredit key APC leaders in the state.
Matawalle’s contributions have earned him wide acceptance and respect within the party, a reality that has clearly unsettled the Governor and his camp. Driven by envy and the belief that he cannot outshine Matawalle within the APC, he has allegedly resorted to using social media proxies to attack the Minister, all in anticipation of the 2027 elections.
Let it be clearly stated: there will be no automatic ticket for anyone. Even a sitting governor must go through the party’s primary process. APC members will ultimately decide who carries the party’s flag.
The Governor would do well to reflect on the experience of Governor Adeleke in Osun State and understand that political destiny is determined by party members, not propaganda or intimidation.
