PDP Slams APC Over Campaign Amidst Olubadan’s Burial

The People’s Democratic Party has suspended its Ibadan North Local Government scheduled to hold today in honour of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige I whose burial is today.

In a statement released by the State Acting Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Micheal Ogunsina, Ogunsina said PDP remains the Party that honours the legacies of the Country’s and State heroes and the people who are deserving of honor.

The Party said it becomes imperative to suspend the campaign to honour the memory and legacy of the late Olubadan who had lived his entire life in service to the country and Oyo State until his death.

Meanwhile, the Party has taken a swipe at the opposition All Progressive Congress for their lack of disregard and disdain towards the revered throne of Olubadan over its campaign at Bodija market.

It will be recalled that the burial of the late Olubadan has been scheduled to hold August 8 few weeks ago yet the APC still chose to go ahead with its campaign flag off at the Bodija even as the market is officially closing at 12pm.

It appears that everyone seems to honour the late Olakulehin and only the APC appears not to care about the late king. The APC came out in the morning alleging the Governor has stopped them from using the Bodija market as the venue of the campaign which is a total lie. The APC eventually flagged off its campaign at the same venue this morning.

“We understand that desperation has seeped through the very thin fabric of the APC and they seem to have lost all rationality as it seems that the Party does not care about any other person even if it makes them lost and tactless.

” We will urge the people of Oyo State and Ibadan North to take note of all their acts of disrespect towards royalties in Oyo State. We equally ask them to reject them with all their acts of desperation.

” We also have it on record that the Minister of Power, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu was busy attending political meetings when the most revered and paramount monach king in Ibadanland was being honoured at Adelabu’s childhood neighborhood even as the candidate of the PDP, Hon. Oyekunle Folajimi Don was on ground to honour the memory of the late monarch.

“Oloye Adelabu allowed desperation for political power to cloud his sense of judgment by jettisoning traditional ettiquet expected of an average Ibadan man let alone a chief of ibadan for political exigency.

” We would not have wasted our time on political jobbers who have nothing to offer the people other than political robbery, anarchy, and disrespect to the people of Oyo State. We believe Olubadan’s spirit will haunt the APC.
