The Coalition of Support Groups of Labour Party and Obi-Datti movement in Oyo state has anounced their supports and endorsement for Governor Seyi Abiodun Makinde’s Reelection bid on March 18.
The Lead Coordinator of the Group, Ayo Akinyẹmi on March 8 declared it’s unwavering supports for Governor Makinde and further canvass for votes for Makinde because of his character, competence, credibility and compassion which are the selling point for Peter Obi is the same for Engineer Seyi Makinde.
Akinyẹmi said, “As the political atmosphere in the country heightens with palpable expectations on the side of the candidates, political elites and even the citizens, a lot of alignments and realignments are ongoing and a lot of fake news and misinformation are flying around in the Media space.”
He continued, “It is in the light of all of these, that the Coalition of Support Groups of Labour Party and ObiDatti in Oyo State wishes to clarify some news items been peddle around by some Interlopers who took advantage of being close to us to pick our Press Release of Mon March, 6 2023 adapted it to suit their purpose and published it before we could publish our original release.
We as Support Groups of Labour Party cannot totally dissociate ourselves from a Party in which many of us are card carrying members and a Party which is the vehicle which we are trusting God shall carry our Principal to Aso Rock soon.
If inspite of all that has happened so far, Peter Obi has not and cannot dissociate itself from Labour Party, we the leadership of Support Group of Labour Party in Oyo State see no reason for us to come out and disparage our Party and it’s leadership openly in the public space. We shall not embark on washing our dirty linens in the open”.
In the light of the March election he said, “it is a common knowledge that the ongoing electioneering procecess is for most Nigerians, about individual candidates and most people have made up their minds as to who to vote without necessarily considering Political Party. At the level of Obi-dient, we are aware of many APC, PDP and other Party members who worked voted for our Principals either overtly or covertly.
It is in the light of this, that we wish to urge our teaming members to do a critical analysis on all the candidates for the coming Saturday elections and in an effort to thinking globally and acting locally, vote Competence, Character and Credibility and compassion, which are the selling point of our Principal H.E Peter Obi and Engr Seyi Makinde has all of these qualities judging from his performance so far in Oyo State. Therefore, they should go out emmasse to vote fore Engnr. Seyi Makinde as Governor of Oyo State.
Concluding, we as Obi-dient Support Group of Labour Party have constitute a major force in the structure of Labour Party have laboured hard to give the Party the visibility it has today Therefore, we would stand by the leadership for now. If there are differences, we would resolve it in-house. We shall not stand by and allow anybody to use us to fight his or her battle to score cheap political goals”.
