You Have To Fight Before Projects Get Executed - Hon. Sadipe

The Member Representing Oluyole Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Honourable Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has addressed the misconception that lawmakers go home with a huge amount of money as their monthly salary is nothing but a statement if false.

The federal lawmaker while speaking on a popular radio program in Ibadan on Saturday, said that the monthly salary of a federal representative is N800,000 and that she has never received the full money due to the upfront payment given at the inception of the house to cushion the accommodation and other things that can aid their stay in Abuja.

Speaking further on oversight function, the Chairman House Committee on Diaspora urged journalists to be fair in their dealings because members have to strive with proper follow-up before projects are executed as against the thinking that representatives are always in possession of the money.

“The money to execute constituency projects is not given to us. It is managed by the executives, the ministries and the agencies, unless you sit on the top of them, you fight and you are on top do your activities, sometimes your projects don’t get done.”

“They put money on these projects, at the end of the day, the budget doesn’t fund it. In some cases, if you don’t have a rapport with those agencies yours doesn’t become a priority which is a problem on its own. So please, I’m imploring journalist in Nigeria, stop attacking the legislative arm, work with us, we have oversight functions to do and if we get your support, it will help us do our job better.”
