Weeks After ‘Coincidental’ Meeting with Atiku at IBB’s Residence, Makinde Meets NNPP Leader Kwankwaso in Ibadan

Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The meeting comes weeks after Makinde’s much-talked-about encounter with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the residence of former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in Minna, Niger State, a meeting that was described as coincidental.

Although details of Monday’s engagement were not made public as of press time, the development has further stirred political conversations, given the recent high-profile interactions involving the Oyo State governor.

Kwankwaso recently returned to the country through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, following what the NNPP termed “strategic international engagements” in India.

His return also comes amid reports of a proposed bill before the United States Congress in which he was named among individuals recommended for targeted sanctions over alleged religious freedom violations in Nigeria.
