Indigenes of Oyo town have continuously suffered and lamented the poor state of road networks in the town and its just so unfortunate that most of the roads rarely survive up to 3 raining seasons after their construction. While some of these roads have been abandoned when they became inaccessible, some are being continuously maintained by the citizens but all to no end.

The current state of our roads in Oyo town is becoming responsible for immeasurable loss of manpowers, properties and lives. Commuters are often caught in heavy hold-ups which, at times, last for hours. The particular intersection has also witnessed countless accidents and innocent lives are being lost while some poor citizens have been left with major injuries.

Funny enough, government functionaries and concerned authorities ply this road regularly. How come no one is talking or doing anything about this?

A major question begging for concern is why the authority would abandon the Oyo-Ibadan Old Road within Oyo township, a major road, in its poor state to rehabilitate the same road from Fiditi to Ibadan, a part that is rarely used these days.

The same road leads to Ajayi Crowther University, a spot that has become deadly and has claimed lives and properties.

The Oyo-Iseyin Road is also a major road that is in a terrible state of disrepair. Yet, these roads are plied daily by heavy duty trucks and lives of innocent citizens are put to risks.

While we still demand answers from the Local Government administration in the town for their underperformance in recent years, the roads within their jurisdictions are nothing to write home about. We face so much hardships on this roads on daily basis.

We are hereby calling on all concerned authorities and stakeholders to take this up. Our lives are no longer safe in Oyo town due to incidences of road traffic accidents.

Please SAVE OUR SOULS!

Thanks.
