Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has initiated an immediate road rehabilitation project across key areas in Ogbomoso North and Ogbomoso South Local Government Areas with the deployment of two contractors to begin work without delay.

The initiative aims to improve transportation, ease movement, and boost economic activities in the region.

The beneficiary routes in Ogbomoso North include:

Amofin Beulah Adeoye, founder of the Beulah Adeoye Foundation has joined Oyo State People’s Democratic Party, PDP stalwarts to congratulate newly elected State Executives of the party.

Amofin Adeoye described the emergence of new executives through a democratic process that’s rancour-free as a proud moment for the party.

The legal icon remarked that the return of Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro as State Chairman and 38 others as well-deserved. He commended the leadership style of Governor Seyi Makinde towards the success of the state Congress.

Amofin Adeoye extolled the virtue of Hon. Ogungbenro for his re-election as State Chairman demonstrating his remarkable wisdom, fairness and resilience in navigating challenges without undermining principles of the party. Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has congratulated the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on the occasion of his birthday.

Alli, in a statement issued by his Media Office and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Ibadan, said birthdays provide opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to public duty.

The lawmaker described the day as a moment to thank God for his life and service to the country.

In a heartwarming display of philanthropy, Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf, Personal Assistant on Special Duties to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has awarded a full scholarship to Master Sodiq Anuoluwapo Shoyode, a 17-year-old prodigy who emerged as one of the top scorers in the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Sodiq, who hails from Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area in Ogun State, achieved an impressive aggregate score of 360, with outstanding marks in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English Language.

Upon learning about Sodiq’s academic feat, Alhaji Yusuf was impressed and promised to sponsor his university education. True to his word, Sodiq was enrolled in a six-month ICT program, including Software Development at GOMYCODE, Ikeja, Lagos, where he received a laptop, accommodation, and stipends for his daily upkeep, all courtesy of Alhaji Yusuf. Now, with his admission to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ibadan, Sodiq’s scholarship for the five-year duration has been fully paid.

Sodiq expressed his gratitude to Alhaji Yusuf, saying, “I’m thoroughly motivated by the kind support of Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf, and I promise to make him proud. I’ll ensure that I apply myself to studies fully and ensure that I come out in flying colours.” Sodiq’s family also benefited from Alhaji Yusuf’s benevolence, as he refurbished and equipped his mother’s tailoring shop, providing a means of livelihood for the family.

Atiku Abubakar Set to Visit Ibadan Today as Advance Team Arrives Ahead

 

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is expected to pay a courtesy visit today to Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the newly crowned 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, following his coronation last Friday.

Sources say that Atiku’s advance team reportedly arrived in Ibadan yesterday to make logistical and security arrangements ahead of the principal’s visit.

While neither Atiku’s media office nor the Olubadan Palace has yet confirmed the full schedule, insiders suggest his itinerary will include paying homage to Oba Ladoja, cultural engagements, and consultations with traditional and political stakeholders.

Atiku had earlier congratulated Ladoja on his installation, expressing confidence that the new monarch would bring transformative leadership to Ibadan.

Atiku, who was the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 and 2023 elections, has remained an influential figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Coronation: Olubadan Oba Rashidi Ladoja Demands Creation of Ibadan State

In a bold and historic move, the newly crowned 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa 1, has passionately appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant Ibadan its own state.

The plea was made during Oba Ladoja’s maiden speech at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, immediately following his coronation ceremony on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Speaking in Yoruba, Oba Ladoja emphasized that the demand for the creation of Ibadan State was explicitly conveyed to him by the people of Ibadan, positioning it as a top priority.

“Ibadan people have asked me to make a demand. They asked me to ask for Ibadan State. If that is true, all Ibadan people, please stand up and thank President Bola Tinubu,” Oba Ladoja declared, underscoring the fervor behind the request.

Addressing President Tinubu, who graced the coronation as a special guest of honor alongside other prominent dignitaries including the Sultan of Sokoto, former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Governor Kayode Fayemi, Oba Ladoja urged, “If there is only one State to be created, Mr President, let it be Ibadan State. We’re in a hurry”.

The monarch expressed his dedication to serving Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, and Africa, highlighting his conviction at 81 years of age.

Governor Seyi Makinde, who presented Oba Ladoja with the Staff of Office, lauded the peaceful succession process leading to Ladoja’s ascension, calling it a source of pride for Ibadanland. Oloye Bayo Oyero, speaking at the event, backed the call for Ibadan State, citing the city’s abundant human and material resources alongside numerous educational institutions, asserting “Ibadan has all it takes to become a state”.

Amofin Beulah Adeoye, the founder of the Beulah Adeoye Foundation has joined sons and daughters of Ibadan land, distinguished Nigerians to congratulate Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja on his 81st birthday and coronation scheduled for Friday, 26 September 2025.

Amofin Adeoye described birthday celebration of Chemical Engineer and Alumnus of University of Liege which coincide with his ascension to the throne of his forefathers as a collective pride for all and sundry. Oba Ladoja was born in 1944 in Gambari village near Ibadan becomes 44th Olubadan of Ibadan land following transition of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on 7 July, 2025.

He said that Oba Ladoja is a distinguished statesman and visionary leader who displayed uncommon patriotism and dedication to the service of his senatorial district during his short time at The Senate.

The legal icon said Oba Ladoja’s tenure as governor of Oyo State between 2003 and 2007 exemplified his capacity as a transformational leader which birthed life-changing reforms in education, health, infrastructure and other sectors. Amofin Adeoye said Oba Ladoja laid solid foundation growth among which is 110km Ibadan Circular Road named after him by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.

He noted that Oba Ladoja’s birthday and ascension is unique at the time people look up to traditional institution to address the core challenges of the people. He urged the monarch to set agenda for inclusive development of Ibadan and Yorubaland in conjunction with the government.
