The Ibadan business mogul, Kehinde Ogunniyi has officially declared his desire to run for the office of the Governor of Oyo State in the 2023 election.
Ogunniyi declared his ambition at Bodija axis of the state on Monday, 9th of May, 2022. Ogunniyi who is a serial entrepreneur disclosed that his intrinsic sense of responsibility, love for the people of Oyo State as well as a passion for development and empowerment are his driving motives for coming forward.
Ogunniyi who came out under the platform of the Young Progressives Party was flouted by the party chieftains such as the party Chairman, Prince Deji Adeyemi, the Public Relations Officer of the Party; Abimbolu Ogunbanwo, Aare Dapo Adigun, an Ex-official of the party, the CEO of Copacabana, Aare Ahmed Ajibola, among other high profile personalities in the state.
Ogunniyi in his declaration speech noted that he has “a proven record, having managed business and empowered over 200 entrepreneurs in the past 10 years for sustainable growth and development.” He noted that he can develop Oyo state into a viable state that is bereft of survival on the monthly allowances of the federal government.
Speaking further on his plans for the state, Ogunniyi who boasted of being a youth commended the sacrifices of the past administrations. He however noted that the old folks of the past administration who have given their best need to be retired since their best is not in tandem with the current realities of a forward-looking nation.
According to him, his education plans are geared toward ensuring that no students are denied access to quality education and infrastructure in the state. He further noted that his administration will leverage the agricultural potential of the state to produce enough food and earn foreign exchange to further develop the potential of the state. He emphasized that, if elected, he will empower over 500,000 youths in the agricultural sector thereby drastically reducing the unemployment rate in the state
Ogunniyi reiterated that his administration will take health care as a priority by ensuring that no one in the state does not have working health insurance.
In his closing remark, where he called on the people of Oyo State to support his ambition, Ogunniyi pledged that his administration will be committed to taking the people of Oyo State to where they should be and not where they want to be and in the course of his journey, he promises subject himself to public appraisal to determine the fruition of his campaign promises.
