Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation, otherwise known as OOF, has announced a marathon race competition for both male and female athletes in Ibaraba.
This is contained in a statement made available to OYOMIND by the founder, Engineer David Olusegun Okanlawon on 14th October, 2020.
According to Okanlawon, the marathon race is another avenue to continuously engage the youths in the zone sport wise as each town of the zone will have at least five representatives of the two gender.
The statement read in parts: “To ensure continuous engagement of our youths in sporting activities, we are launching a 10 km marathon race for female and male athletes in Ibarapa. The Marathon is scheduled to hold on the 31st of December, 2020 by 6am prompttake-offke off point is Igbole, Igboora and the finishing line is at Ayelogun Grammar School, Idere.
“Registration for the competition is open to Ibarapa indigenes. There will be a maximum of five female and five male representatives of each town (Ayete, Eruwa, Idere, Igangan, Igbo-Ora, Lanlate and Tapa). “We understand that this is the first of its kind in Ibarapa, and we are proud to host it in partnership with FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC (manufacturer of Peak Milk, Three Crowns milk and many other exceptional products). Participants will receive souvenirs from FrieslandCampina. The Foundation will facilitate the logistics, cash, prizes, and gift items for the competition.
“We are actively working towards expanding the prizes for winners and other participants. Hence, there will be more pleasant surprises during the event.
“Below are the prizes for both female and male categories:
First: NGN 100,000
Second: NGN 70,000
Third: NGN 50,000
“As a reminder, the Football, Draught, and Ayo Olopon tournaments will stathe rt on 27th of December and the grand finale is scheduled for 31st of December, 2020. We will have both female and male categories for Draughts and Ayo competitions while the football tournament will feature only male participants.”
The foundation further announced the plan to implement the 2021 UTME Registration Scholarship for 150 candidates from Ibarapa, saying the process would be announced in due course.
More so, the events were to ensure the holistic development of Ibarapa land, noting that the rough united effort, Ibarapa could become a great example to Oyo State and Nigeria, on how to transform communities.
