The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has confirmed a fire incident at one of its offices in Abuja, assuring the public that no casualties were recorded.
In a statement released by the Technical Assistant (Print Media) to the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Sikiru Akinola, it was disclosed that the fire occurred on Saturday morning on the fourth floor of the office located at No. 15 Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
Security personnel on duty promptly responded to the incident, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and other emergency responders provided swift support.
The coordinated response ensured that the fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading to other parts of the building. Although no lives were lost, FIRS confirmed that several offices on the affected floor sustained damage.
The Service noted that an investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire, with preliminary assessments pointing to a possible electrical fault. FIRS also stated that it is reviewing and strengthening its internal safety protocols to guard against future occurrences.
