The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Chief Bayo Adelabu has queried Governor Seyi Makinde over his poor handling of Oyo State security.
According to Adelabu, there is an urgent need to question the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde over his handling of security matters in the Pace Setter State noting that since Makinde’s inauguration on May 29, 2019, security affairs in Oyo state have been degenerating into a ticking time bomb.
Several assaults, protests, robberies, and kidnappings have been the order of the day in the State. Several high-profile kidnapping has been witnessed in the State, which included a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Adigun Agbaje.
Under the Governor’s watch himself, during his Reelection campaign late last year, several assaults were witnessed which included one death, with more than three people’s injuries recorded in Igangan.
Also in the early hours of today, the Police Officers and Other joint security officers of the States rained bullets on peaceful protesters in Apata, Ibadan which resulted in the death of three with many fatal injuries also recorded, however, Governor Makinde is yet to voice over these killings.
Also on Friday, the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan was a testing ground for protests of fuel scarcity and bank notes scarcity which led to attacks on a Police Officer.”
The Accord Party Gubernatorial Candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu decried Makinde’s levity in the management of security in the State. He advised that: “Governor Makinde should call on security agencies to be steadfast in the management of security. This levity is what had led us in Oyo State to crisis during the End Sars Protest in 2020.”
