The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at its ongoing factional and controversial National Convention holding at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, has announced the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.
Also expelled were the former National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; former National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN); Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; and Hon. Umar Bature.
According to delegates who ratified the decision, the expulsion became necessary to restore discipline within the party, following what they described as persistent anti-party activities by the affected members.
Several prominent figures including Wike, Fayose, and Anyanwu had openly opposed the ongoing convention, further deepening internal divisions.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki had earlier advised the party to suspend the convention and install a caretaker committee pending the resolution of ongoing court cases.
Notably, Governors Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State were absent from the controversial gathering, adding to the tense atmosphere surrounding the event.
