A journalist and fact-checker with The Nation Newspaper, Alao Abiodun has been granted a scholarship by Radio Netherlands Training Center (RNTC) and Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Nuffic Orange Knowledge scholarship Program.
He will join other selected media professionals to take part in the in-person course to learn ‘Digital Media to Counter Disinformation and Hate Speech’, which will begin June 3rd, 2023.
Abiodun studied Educational Management at the University of Ibadan, and also bagged Post-Graduate Diploma from Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ).
Recall in 2022, Abiodun was selected alongside 21 other journalists across the world as a Fellow for the prestigious United Nations Reham al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship to cover the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN-GA).
The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and run by the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic).
The scholarship is available in 53 countries including Nigeria. Tagged, The Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP), the scholarship covers the cost of living, course fees, visa, travel, and insurance.
The Programme aims to contribute to the society’s sustainable and inclusive development. Its scholarships are open to mid-career professionals in specific countries, and it is open to media makers in restrictive settings who use media for social change and create social impact.
