The Alumni body of the Federation of Ibadan Students Union (FIBSU) has felicitated with Oba (Dr.) Senator Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun (Alli Okunmade II) on the occasion of his coronation as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

A statement made available to the press by the Alumni Chairman, Salami Usman Abiodun, described the enthronement of the new Olubadan as a divine grace from God.

Recall that the Olubadan throne became vacant on 2nd January 2022 upon the demise of the late Oba Saliu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso 1.

According to him, the Ibadan chieftaincy lineage which is the best practice in the country is rancor-free because of the way it was designed, and the Olubadan emerges according to destiny.

He said “On behalf of the entire members of FIBSU Alumni nationwide, we congratulate our royal father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Senator Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun (Alli Okunmade II) as he receives his staff of office and officially begins to rule as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“Ibadan Kingship is the most peaceful and well-coordinated one in the country because the person next to the throne is known in as much as the person is alive.

“No doubt, this is a divine grace from God which is not given to everybody but those whom He deems fit to given to bless”

He further charged the Olubadan to prioritize human development in Ibadan and use his office as one of the most educated kings to have ruled to ensure that Ibadan indigenes emerges as heads in various parastatals and positions in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“We believe that Ibadanland needs more of human development such that our indigenous, especially graduates who are sons and daughters of Ibadan be empowered by securing employment opportunities for them in various offices within and outside the state. More so, we realize that Ibadan indigenes have been marginalized in various institutions (Federal and state) and parastatals in Ibadan.

“Moreso, construction of Olubadan Auditorium in all institutions situated in Ibadan is another project that the alumni body wishes that you look into to bring beauty to the throne of the Olubadan.

“We pray that you live long in sound health and that your reign as the 42nd Olubadan is peaceful and usher in more development to Ibadanland,” he concluded.
