Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki and Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu for their victory in the just concluded Edo gubernatorial election.
This came following the announcement of the re-election of Obaseki as governor of Edo state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday afternoon, after he polled 307,955 votes in Saturday’s governorship election to defeat his major rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 223,619 votes.
Obaseki, who is the incumbent governor of Edo State, won in 13 local government areas to secure his reelection for a second term, while Ize Iyamu won in 5 local government areas.
Governor Seyi Makinde has, however, described the victory as a well deserved one.
“ The victory is for the people of Edo State. #EdoNoBeLagos,” the governor tweeted.
