COVID-19: UI Closes Jaja Clinic Over Confirmed Coronavirus Case

The Jaja Clinic in University of Ibadan has been shut down due to confirmed COVID-19 case recently discovered.

OYOMIND.COM.NG gathered that a patient at the clinic tested positive for COVID-19 few days ago.

This is contained in a statement signed by the university’s Director of Communication, Olatunji Oladejo.

According to Oladejo, the university has taken proactive steps and alerted The Oyo State Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

He added that “the Centre inspected the premises (Jaja Clinic), and made the following recommendations:

(1) Disinfection/Decontamination of premises which has been done;

(2) Follow-up of all those who had contact with the client by the EOC; and

(3) Closure of the clinic from 4.00pm of 15 December, 2020 for a 7day period.”

UCJUI learnt that the opening of the clinic will subject to review by the Oyo State Emegency Operation Centre (EOC)

Mr Oladejo said: “Beyond closure, the EOC is working with the UHS (Jaja Clinic) to ensure that all processes for safe work are put in place.

“NHIS enrollees may access care at the Eleyele Police clinic during the closure.

“Meanwhile, the COVID-19 positive fellow is being attended to and there should be no panic.

“Members of the community are enjoined to stay safe by observing all recommended precautions to prevent disease and promote health.”
