Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has explained Covid-19 confirmed cases are not in the state isolation centres.
Governor Makinde who also doubles as the Chairman, Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force explained that the state only admits cases with severe symptoms or cases that cannot self-isolate safely at home to the isolation centres.
“Some people have asked why all confirmed COVID-19 cases are not in our isolation centres. Based on the protocols we have been using to manage confirmed cases in Oyo State with satisfactory outcomes, only cases with severe symptoms or cases that can’t self-isolate safely at home are managed in our isolation centres.
“A significant number of the confirmed cases have mild to moderate symptoms and so those who can self-isolate at home safely are allowed to do so,” he said.
The governor also gave a breakdown of the fifty-two suspected cases that came back positive on Sunday, 22nd June 2020.
“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for fifty-two suspected cases came back POSITIVE. The cases are from Ibadan South East (12), Oluyole (8), Egbeda (6), Ibadan South West (5), Ido (3), Ibadan North East (3), Ibadan North (3), Ona Ara (2), Lagelu (2), Saki West (2), Itesiwaju (2), Ogbomosho North (2), Ibadan North West (1), Ibarapa North (1) Local Government Areas.”
The total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 912.
