As the 2023 general election is fast approaching, the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democractic Party (PDP) in its way to ensure that candidates emerge through consensus has directed the leaders to meet present candidates for different offices.
In ogooluwa/surulere Federal constituency, the leaders have settled for the candidacy of Ojo Sunday Makanjuola ‘SMATO’ to represent them at the green chamber.
SMATO as he is popularly called has been a loyal party member in the Federal constituency who prioritize the well-being of the constituents and made available different opportunities at every needed period.
The leaders, who spoke in one voice said that the constituency and party are lucky to have competent and qualified contenders such as Hon. Folaranmi Banji, Hon. Barr. Olasunkanmi, Hon. Sharafdeen Mohammed and Hon. Ojo Makanjuola Sunday but the reality of it all is that only a candidate will emerge.
OYOMIND gathered that, of the twenty-two (22) leaders that voted during the consensus process, twelve (12) was in favour of ‘SMATO’.
One of the leaders in the constituency, Hon. Okunlola Madeola Olayide appreciated the stakeholders for allowing the mandate to stand.
Amongst the party leaders and stakeholders in the state whom he gave accolades to are, Sen. Hosea Agboola, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Otunba Seye, and Dr. Saka Balogun, to mention but a few.
He further commended the executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde for the privileged given to the leaders to unanimously make decisions without the influence of any external forces.
