Hassan Popoola, a student of the University of Ibadan has demanded a prompt action to address the security issues in Oyo state. This was contained in an opinion article posted on his Facebook wall on Saturday, January 23.

While comparing the administration of the late former Governor Ajimobi with the realities of the Makinde-led government, Popoola who is a final year student said the Oyo State Government has failed woefully under Makinde.

He praised the security policy of the late Governor Ajimobi while urging that such security measures be replaced the one currently in existence in Oyo while commending the actions of the yoruba agitator, Sunday Igboho whose name as stormed the media lately on the security issues in Oyo.

He said: “The 1999 constitution as amended has expediently stated the basic roles of our government and its official’s duties. For any reasonable and well-prepared government to perform her functions to its best, citizens safety and wellbeing should be given a huge priority.

In Oyo state, Our government has failed to provide an enabling environment that’s conducive to her citizens and threat to human life and damaging of properties have taken over the street of the pacesetter state.

Less than 2years of Governor Seyi Makinde administration, Oyo state has recorded a lot of casualties and loss of lives. In Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa axis of the state, Kidnappers have taken over some local government areas if not for community intervention through vigilant groups and patriotic indigenes contributions.

Where do we get it wrong this time around?

Late Abiola Ajimobi did everything possible to curb insecurity in the state. He met with all stakeholders and agencies that are connected with security operatives. He launched the then ‘Operation Burst’ as a collaborative group to support the existing securities in the state. There wasn’t any conflict among our forces.

Recalled that between 2011-2019, Oyo State is greatly applauded to have experienced peaceful living and unarmed activities throughout the tenure of the late Governor, His Excellency Abiola Ajimobi. Mr Koseleri ensured all hands are put to the desk and no individual or group of hoodlums is powerful than the government. He makes the institution respected and holds the government in fulfilling his major responsibilities.

From #NURTW crisis to #EndSARS protest, this affirms that our governor isn’t prepared at all for this administration. I dare him to his street credibility to be held in Igangan and not Oje in Ibadan.

I am totally in support of the actions taken by Akinrogun of Yorubaland, Mr Adeyemo Sunday popularly known as Sunday Igboho on the ongoing mission of liberation geared towards bringing peace back to Ibarapa land.”
