Oyo APC Reps Aspirants Dismiss Defection Speculation, Reaffirm Loyalty to Tinubu, APC Candidates

The Coalition of Concerned House of Representatives Aspirants in Oyo State has firmly debunked rumours suggesting that it is being wooed by opposition parties, declaring that the coalition remains committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has no intention of abandoning the party.

The coalition reaffirmed its loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed continued support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The clarification followed separate visits by coalition representatives to Engr. Remi Oseni on Tuesday, October 13 and Senator Sharafadeen Alli on Wednesday, October 14 2026. The meetings provided an opportunity for members to restate their commitment to the party and discuss the way forward amid concerns surrounding the House of Representatives candidate selection process in Oyo State.

The coalition maintained that its concerns over candidate selection and the treatment of aspirants should not be misconstrued as disloyalty or an indication of readiness to defect. Rather, it described its position as a call for fairness, inclusion, recognition and genuine reconciliation within the party.

According to the coalition, its members have invested significant time, resources and personal sacrifices in building the APC, strengthening its grassroots structures and mobilising support for its programmes. It therefore believes that constructive engagement and respect for the contributions of party members are essential to sustaining unity.

The coalition further emphasised that disagreements over internal party processes do not automatically translate into an intention to join opposition parties. It urged party stakeholders and the public to distinguish between legitimate calls for reconciliation and unsubstantiated speculation about its political allegiance.

Members reiterated their readiness to work with APC leaders and candidates, engage supporters across their constituencies, communicate the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration, and contribute meaningfully to the party’s activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The coalition also called for sustained dialogue among party leaders, candidates and aspirants, expressing confidence that sincere engagement would help address outstanding concerns, rebuild confidence and strengthen the party’s internal cohesion.

In reaffirming its position, the coalition stressed that its objective remains to seek a fairer, more inclusive and united APC, rather than weaken the party or provide an advantage to its political opponents.

It urged its members and supporters to remain calm, steadfast and committed to constructive engagement, while calling on party leaders to sustain efforts towards genuine reconciliation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
