Oyo state Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has responded to recent protests against the Ibadan Circular Road project, stating that he is unbothered by the various names and allegations hurled at him by critics.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Ibadan Central Bus Terminal, the governor addressed accusations from protesters who labeled him a “land grabber” and a “thief.”
It could be recalled that today marks the third day of the Ibadan circular road affected people protest.
Governor Makinde said such criticisms are part of the burden of leadership and should not distract from the progress being made in the state. “I have been called many unprintable names, but I don’t take them personally. It comes with the job,” he said.
He further challenged anyone with evidence linking him to personal gains from the 500-meter land extension around the circular road project to come forward.
According to the governor, the extension was introduced purely for economic and developmental purposes, not for private enrichment.
Makinde reiterated that the circular road remains a strategic infrastructure aimed at transforming Oyo State’s economy and easing transportation within the Ibadan metropolis. He assured residents that his administration would continue to pursue policies in the best interest of the people, regardless of opposition or personal attacks.
