The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Professionals has issued a scathing condemnation of individuals and groups working to undermine the party’s scheduled Elective National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025, labeling them as “enemies of democracy” and “agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.”
In a strongly worded statement released today, November 5, 2025, by the Group’s Public Relation Officer, Aisha Bello Mohammed, the group accused the saboteurs of orchestrating frivolous lawsuits and propaganda campaigns aimed at derailing the democratic process within Nigeria’s main opposition platform.
The statement comes just days after the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan delivered a landmark ruling, granting an interim order that clears the PDP to proceed with the convention as planned, while directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor the proceedings.
“The recent ‘courageous’ judgment by Justice A. L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court is a resounding victory for internal democracy and the rule of law,” Aisha Bello Mohamemd.
“It affirms our constitutional right to elect new national officers without interference. Yet, those who filed baseless suits in Abuja and elsewhere—seeking to halt this pivotal gathering—are not acting in good faith. They are proxies of the APC and President Tinubu, desperate to weaken the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
The group highlighted how the Federal High Court in Abuja had briefly attempted to halt the convention, a move swiftly countered by the Ibadan ruling on November 3, 2025.
“This convention, under the banner #Ibadan2025, is more than an election of leaders—it’s a clarion call for national renewal,” the statement continued.
“With over 3,000 delegates converging at the fully refurbished Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, we will elect a refreshed National Working Committee (NWC) committed to unity, accountability, and reclaiming Nigeria from the clutches of the failed APC misrule.
Any attempt to sabotage this is an assault on the democratic aspirations of millions of Nigerians.”
Preparations for #Ibadan2025 are in full swing, with the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), chaired by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, confirming seamless logistics, enhanced security, and inclusive accessibility features.
