The Ibadan City metropolis has been filled to brim with waste and dirts which full major areas in the Oyo state capital city.
Major roads in the city,such as Ring-road–Adeoyo roundabout, Mapo hall, Oja’ba Ibadan, Bodija and other widely concentrated areas were fully turning into a new dumpsite.
Reasons accounting for this development can be likened to poor waste managements in Oyo state, either caused from the poor attitude to work of the contractors or the Oyo state government. Before, the waste are always packed within days compared to the present days.
Speaking with some residents of this area, many lamented their reservations and annoyance towards the Oyo state government because of its levity in handling waste disposal.
A resident of Ringroad, explained that, “the Oyo state government promised good healthcare facilities while there is poor waste management, this is ironic”.
Another shop owner at Bodija who spoke under anonymity, said, “the previous Ajimobi Administration does not handle waste management like this, they said they are working on Awontan site and there is no reassurance, there will be proper waste management, this is disheartening”.
