The Oyo State Chapter of Joint Action Committee, JAC comprising of tertiary institutions workers in has accused Oyo State Government negligence to the requests of its employers.

In a statement made available to OYOMIND, JAC said the state government is inconsistent and insensitive to the yearnings of people working in tertiary institutions.

According to JAC, there was an agreement with the state government to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) whereby the representatives of the government failed to show up. The JAC got to know that the give had a different MOU which is totally different from the earlier agreed agreement which JAC representatives declined.

The statement reads thus:

LATEST INFORMATION ON JAC AND GOVERNMENT AGREEMENTS REGARDING CONDITIONS FOR SUSPENSION OF THE ONGOING INDUSTRIAL ACTIONS

The leadership of JAC has never left any stone unturned as regarding peaceful coexistence and understanding with the Government.

But, to our dismay, its becoming clearer, on daily basis that, the government of the day is both inconsistent and insensitive to the yearnings of people working in tertiary intitutions.

This update becomes imperative because of Government inconsistencies with the terms of the meeting of JAC and Government of Monday, 19th April, 2021 that lasted over five hours where the concerned parties had an understanding on how to resolve all matters that relate with the existence of the ongoing industrial actions all over the Oyo State owned tertiary institutions.

Consequently, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was to be signed on Tuesday, 20th April, 2021 but government functionaries involved were not available to append their signatures to the said agreement and JAC representatives had to return to the State Secretariat yesterday, Wednesday, 21st April, 2021.

Surprisingly, however, it was discovered that, the government had a different game plan as the MoU presented for signing by the Director of Higher Education was, totally, at variance to the agreed agreement of Monday and JAC representatives declined signing the eventual MoU.

Therefore, in line with JAC directive, all concerned institutions have been directed to suspend intending Congresses and, also remarked that, NO institution suspends strike until further directive by JAC.

Thanks.
