Women Representation: APC Oyo South Senatorial Women Leader Carpets Makinde • Asks Tinubu To State His Agenda for Women

The Oyo South Senatorial Women Leader, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fatimah Hassan has faulted the way women are marginalized in governance citing how the only position given to women in Governor Makinde’s administration is the office of the commissioner for women affairs.

Fatima stated this while delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of the Oyo State chapter of Asiwaju Women Cooperative Society on 14th February, 2022.

In her speech which is bothered on building strong capacities for women politically and how strategic it is to meaningful political participation, she stated that women have to be more intentional about their political goals and record-breaking targets.

She further pointed out “how women are usually narrowed down to only ministry of women affairs like it is the case in Oyo State right now where the only female commissioner is that of women affairs.

“The crux of the topic of discussion was expantiated on with relatable bullet points on how women in politics can build strong capacities for themselves for meaningful participation which will result to political growth.

“I concluded my speech by ceasing the opportunity of the inauguration of Asiwaju women coorperative society Oyo State chapter’s Inauguration to charge/Challenge Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explicitly state his agenda for women. He should let women know his unprecedented plans for the all-around development of Nigerian women.”
